LoJack Helps Police Recover Five Stolen Vehicles; Three Stolen from Atlanta Toyota Dealership
- October 27, 2011
On Thursday, October 13, the manager of Atlanta Toyota noticed that the dealership’s lot had been broken into and a 2011 Chevrolet Suburban and two 2011 Toyota Tundras had been stolen. Fortunately, the dealership equips all of its vehicles with a LoJack System. As such, when the owner reported the theft to local police, they immediately activated the LoJack Systems on these vehicles and began tracking them. A Georgia State Trooper soon picked up the silent LoJack signal from one of the vehicles. He followed the signal to a rural area of Atlanta and found the two Tundras. In a nearby wooded area, he also found a stolen Ford F-150 (not equipped with a LoJack System), which had been used in a carjacking and robbery several months prior. About a mile away, the stolen 2011 Chevrolet Suburban was located inside a closed garage. There, a Mercedes that had been stolen months earlier — despite the fact that it had a factory installed telematics system — was also found.
A total of five vehicles, including the three from the dealership valued at approximately $85,000, were recovered. An investigation is ongoing into potential suspects involved with these thefts.
