LoJack has had some incredible recovery stories over the course of its 25+ years, so in a series of ongoing posts, we will be sharing our best stories of all time in the areas of commercial, SUV’s, luxury cars, sports cars, international, motorcycles, and pick-up trucks.
Below you will find our SUV recoveries that stand out the most.
LoJack Leads Police to $8 Million Theft Ring
Authorities in Los Angeles were led to a major theft ring after tracking a stolen, LoJack-equipped Escalade. The thieves had stolen more than 200 luxury SUVs valued at more than $8 million. Twenty-three suspects were arrested.
Efforts of Chicopee, MA, Police Lead to Massive Car Theft Investigation
Chicopee Police tracked the LoJack signal of a Chevrolet Blazer to a salvage yard in Amherst, MA, which led to a large-scale investigation by authorities. Numerous car thefts in the Western Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire areas seemed to be connected to the initial Amherst location. The investigation resulted in more than 140 vehicles being recovered from several locations in New England. Multiple people were arrested, and the value of the vehicles involved was over $1 million.
LoJack Helps Arrest Armed Carjackers
The owner of a 2007 LoJack-equipped Toyota FJ Cruiser and her child were approached by multiple male suspects, who were armed with handguns and demanded the keys to the vehicle. Philadelphia Police Major Crimes Auto Squad picked up the LoJack signal, found the vehicle and put it under surveillance.
Soon thereafter, police received a report of a 2006 Range Rover being stolen in the same area and, while conducting the surveillance, watched as suspects parked the Range Rover in the alleyway next to the Toyota. Police arrested the suspects and found weapons in the vehicles.
Convicted Car Thief Steals Car to Attend Arraignment
In this California recovery, a convicted car thief stole a LoJack-equipped Range Rover in order to get to court for his arraignment on previous car theft charges. Vallejo police and officers with the California Highway Patrol tracked down the vehicle and arrested the thief for yet another car theft.
Hummer and Laptop Equipped with LoJack, Both Are Found
A 2006 Hummer H-2 was stolen in Monrovia, CA, and within hours, the vehicle was tracked and recovered. However, all of the car’s contents, including a Dell laptop, were stolen. Thankfully, the laptop had LoJack for Laptops installed on it, so its location was traced and a suspect at the scene was
Professional Thief Loses to LoJack—Admits to Stealing 400 Cadillacs Over 3 Years
When the owner of a 2007 Cadillac Escalade reported it missing, deputies with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department tracked the vehicle’s LoJack signal in under an hour to a residence. The suspect admitted to stealing the car and storing some of its parts in his house. Surprisingly, the man also admitted to stealing about 400
Cadillacs in a three-year time span! What was not surprising was that police arrested the suspect for operating a chop shop. This was the second time this vehicle had been stolen and then recovered by LoJack.
Long Distance LoJack Recovery
A Tampa, FL-based dealership discovered that one of its Cadillac Escalades equipped with LoJack had been stolen from the lot. Within minutes of receiving the report, police 3,000 miles away picked up the signal and tracked the vehicle to a residence in Los Angeles, CA.
Recovery of Stolen Dodge Ram Leads to Arrest of Illegal Aliens
The owner of a 2005 Dodge Ram reported his vehicle stolen to the Phoenix Police Department, and within 10 minutes of activation a detective with the RATTLER Auto Theft Task Force picked up on the LoJack signal. After conducting surveillance on the Dodge Ram and a Ford Expedition, which turned out to be stolen as well, officers arrested five illegal aliens following a brief foot chase. They pursued two other suspects for 50 miles when they fled the scene in the Ford Expedition. All seven suspects were arrested, and officers found a Glock handgun in one of the stolen vehicles.
Crime Scene Housing 12 Stripped Vehicles Busted
Shortly after the owner of a 2003 Cadillac Escalade reported his vehicle stolen, a Dallas PD helicopter tracked the vehicle to a house where officers found 12 stripped vehicles—which had all been stolen. The total recovery value of the vehicles was $234,500, and detectives issued an arrest warrant for the suspect.
