Honda Accord Recovered Directly Across The Street From The Police Department

  • June 1, 2012

This Honda Accord was stolen from the 600 block of SW 155th Street in Burien, Washington.  When the theft was discovered the owner reported it to the King County Sheriff’s Office who entered the VIN into the national crime computer (NCIC).  This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

The thief drove the car a few miles to a motel located in the 18900 block of 47th Avenue South in SeaTac.  This is directly across the street from the SeaTac Police Department.  A King County deputy leaving the police department received a strong LoJack signal transmitting from the Honda.  He called unmarked units to the location and surveillance was set up on the car.  A short time later, a suspect was seen loading items into the car.  He was contacted in the hotel by an undercover detective who took him into custody.  Another individual in the room occupied by the suspect was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Portions of this story were obtained from the King County Sheriff’s Office.
