LoJack® System Assists Gwinnett County GA Police in Recovery of Ford F-350 Utility Truck Stolen from Workplace
- April 15, 2013
A favorite trick of car thieves is to hide a victim’s vehicle in a location that’s not very well-traveled to allow a ‘cooling off’ period before moving it again. It’s lucky for this truck’s owner that the LoJack® System never cools off, but stays hot on the trail of any stolen car, truck or motorcycle equipped with a LoJack unit.
On April 7th, 2013, the owner of a 2008 Ford F-350 Utility truck reported to the Union City, GA Police Dept. that it had been stolen from a business parking lot during the night. The police dept. verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device in the truck, which was installed at Gene Evans Ford in Union City, GA, was then automatically activated.
A short while later, a Gwinnett County Police officer whose vehicle was equipped with an onboard LoJack tracking computer began receiving a signal from the F-350 and tracked the truck to the driveway of an abandoned house in a rural area. The truck, which had no damage, was soon returned to its owner.
