Florence, South Carolina Sheriff’s Office Recovers Stolen Toyota Tundra Assisted by the LoJack® System

  • June 28, 2013

In this case, a Toyota Tundra pickup stolen in Palm Beach, Florida is recovered in South Carolina thanks to the LoJack system. Wherever a LoJack is activated in the US, the homing signal is broadcast in any LoJack covered area in the country, so, even though the thieves thought crossing state lines would help them avoid the police, LoJack proved them wrong!

On June 18th, 2013 the Toyota’s owners contacted the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home. PBSD officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the Tundra, which was installed at Royal Palm Toyota in Royal Palm Beach, FL, was then automatically activated

A short while later, officers from the Florence, South Carolina Sheriff’s Office picked up the homing signals from the Tundra on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the vehicle to a side street just outside the city, where it was found parked on the side of the street intact and undamaged. Two suspects and a dog were asleep in the cab. The suspects, who both have extensive records, were arrested. The Toyota was soon returned to its relieved owners.
