The LoJack® System Helps Portland, Oregon Police Bureau Locate Stolen Harley Davidson FXSTB Motorcycle in 25 Minutes
- June 20, 2013
When you come home at dinner time after a long day of work or school, the last thing you want to deal with is a stolen vehicle. Unfortunately, this does occur more often than we’d like. When this Portland, OR resident arrived home to find his Harley Davidson FXSTB missing, he was glad he had the LoJack® system installed when he bought his bike.
When the bike’s owner discovered the theft, he immediately contacted the Portland Police Bureau, who verified the theft and entered the VIN (vehicle identification number) into the NCIC stolen vehicle database. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Harley, which was installed at Harley Davidson of Portland in Gladstone, OR.
A short time later, Portland Police officers received the homing signal from the bike on the LoJack tracking computers in their patrol cars. They tracked the Harley to an apartment complex on 30th Avenue where it was found abandoned and undamaged in just 25 minutes after activation. The FXSTB was soon returned to its very grateful owner.
