The LoJack® System Helps San Diego, California Police Recover Stolen 2014 Mazda MZ6 in 31 Minutes

  • August 30, 2013

This California resident had good reason to be glad he chose to have the LoJack® system installed on his 2014 Mazda MZ6. His car was stolen 21 days after he purchased it, and his local police were able to recover it, using LoJack, in just over one half hour after activation.

On July 29th, 2013, the Mazda’s owner contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Mazda, which was installed at Autoland in San Diego, CA.

Just a few minutes later, SDPD officers picked up the homing signals from the MZ6 on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the vehicle to a residential neighborhood near Spruce Street, where they found the car parked and abandoned. The undamaged Mazda was soon returned to its very happy owner.
