The LoJack® System Helps Gladstone, Oregon Police Recover Stolen Honda Civic DX in 53 Minutes and Break up Theft Ring
- November 6, 2013
The owner of the Honda Civic DX stolen in this case discovered it missing very early one Saturday morning. The LoJack® system installed in the Civic not only helped police recover the vehicle in less than one hour after activation, it also assisted in breaking up a Honda theft ring.
On October 19th, 2013, the Honda’s owner called the Portland, OR Police Bureau to report the car had been taken overnight. Officers verified the information and entered the VIN into the NCIC stolen vehicle database. The LoJack transponder concealed in the Civic DX, which was installed at Robertson Honda in North Hollywood, CA, was then automatically activated.
A short while later, a Gladstone PD officer received the silent signal transmitting from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer in his patrol vehicle. He tracked the Honda to the intersection of East Dartmouth Street and Oatfield Road in Gladstone. Two occupants in the vehicle were taken into custody. Both suspects admitted involvement in recent thefts in the greater Portland area totaling fifteen vehicles- all mid-90’s Honda cars. The Civic DX was soon returned to its grateful owner.
