Atlanta, Georgia Police Recover Stolen Lexus GS 350 Used in Burglary with Help from the LoJack® System

In this case, a Lexus GS 350 stolen in Jonesboro, GA, is later used in a robbery. When the local police, assisted by the LoJack® system, recover the stolen car, they get more than they bargained for when they capture the two suspected burglars as well.

On January 9th, 2014, the owner of the Lexus contacted the Clayton County Police Dept. to report that her car had been stolen from her home. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the GS 350, which was installed at Hennessy Lexus in Atlanta, GA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, the Atlanta Police began receiving a homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. At the same time, police dispatchers broadcast a bulletin to be on the lookout for a Lexus with two males inside who were involved in a burglary.

The officers located the GS 350 in an apartment complex lot where it was found backed into a parking space and unoccupied. The officer called the Atlanta Police Task Force and requested backup. After a brief surveillance, two suspects entered the car and started to drive off but were stopped and taken into custody. Two weapons were found inside the car that were believed to have been taken in the robbery. The Lexus was soon returned to its very thankful owner.
