- January 8, 2015
The vehicle leasing company which owns the 2005 Bentley GT contacted the Houston Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen while parked in the company lot in Houston.
The Houston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Bentley.
Several hours later officers from the New Orleans Police Department and the Louisiana State Police picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Bentley with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Bentley as it was driving around the downtown area of New Orleans. The officers continued to track the Bentley as it was heading out to the Gentilly area of the city where the driver parked the Bentley GT in a motel parking lot. The driver and passenger were taken into custody and were found to be in possession of a set of keys to the Bentley. They were also in possession of illegal narcotics and a large amount of cash. Both were arrested and charged with possession of the stolen Bentley and drug possession.
The Bentley was recovered in great shape and placed in storage yard until the owner could pick it up. The LoJack® System was installed in the Bentley in November of 2004.
